Shortly after I had my son, I came across Samah through Palestinian media. A journalist had photographed her children with a caption boys who needed urgent medical care that no longer existed in Gaza. I reached out to her directly, and I don't really know what I expected, but what I got was a friendship.
In the beginning we talked about motherhood. About what it's like to raise children, to worry about them, to want everything for them. We swapped stories. Hers were harder than mine in ways I can't fully imagine, but she told them with the same love any mother has for her kids.
I see Samah as my sister now. And I want to make sure the world knows her name and her family's name.
Her son Yousef sadly passed away this year, while waiting for treatment that never came. This campaign exists because their voice deserve to be heard and so I started here.
Samah's family is one of many in the queue for medical evacuation. If we can push for one, we can push for more.
